Showers of blessing

You are my sheep, the sheep of my pasture

And I am your God, says the Lord God. Ezekiel 34:31

Read Ezekiel 34:23—26

When he was raised from the dead Jesus pointed out the way he fulfilled the scriptures.[1] In what I call the Old Testament I have things concerning him. Certainly this night, as I have this prophecy before me, I can feel as though I am one of those first Christians, listening, talking things over with the risen Lord. So this, Lord, it’s all about you! You are the shepherd set over me, over my little church. You are Son of David. You are prince among us. You have made peace, peace with God. Why, the very environment of my life is infected with your peace and blessing! And in you I have the promise of more. Look, I am praying already!

Prayer
Thank you, Father, that the Son you have sent is such a shepherd to my soul that I know security. I know blessing. I know a certain sense of direction in my life as he leads me. I know belonging: I belong! Here, with him, I belong to you. These things are showers of blessing, showers that fall on me from above, and that fall on what is around me, showers that drench me, showers of blessing.
