He intercedes for us

Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord?

And who shall stand in his holy place? Psalm 24:3

Read John 17:13—17
Even as I gather my thoughts at the end of the day I turn to remember — I cannot fully picture this — that the Lord ever lives to make intercession for me.[1] I have a man standing for me in the presence of God. I say he prays for me. But what would he actually pray? How does my own prayer and my own attempt to call upon God actually translate into what the Father hears when I pray in Jesus’ name? Because I stumble and fumble in my prayers, what actually gets heard? I think in this prayer of Jesus I get a little insight into the traffic between Son and Father on my behalf. God in all his being wants me to be kept true to him, and he wants my joy. I take it that he wants me to know a wonderful fitness and rightness and completeness as I find myself in him.

Prayer
Dear Father, I am present to you. I am complete in you, and right for your company, because your Son has made me so. As he brought heaven to earth, God to humanity, so he brings earth to heaven, humanity to God. So I can look to my day to day life as my meeting place with you in all your divinity. And I can look to heaven as your promised meeting place with me in all my humanity.
