Human equations are very different from divine equations, and the human view is completely different from that of the heavenly Father.
When God wanted to choose a new king over his people in the Old Testament, the Lord said to the Prophet Samuel, “How long will you mourn for Saul since I have rejected him as King over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and go to the house of Jesse in order to choose a king from among his children.
I have seen a king in his house for me. (1 Samuel 16: 1)
Samuel did not hesitate to fulfil God’s orders, so he went to Bethlehem with steady steps, carrying in his thoughts and conscience a heavenly message to choose a new king instead of Saul, who exasperated God in not obeying him. And when he entered the house of Jesse, he remembered the word of God, who had warned him against judging a person by human standards.
So one by one Jesse’s strong, tall sons began to pass before the Prophet, and Samuel’s answer was always, “This one is not chosen by the Lord”. After seven of Jesse’s children passed by the Prophet of God, Samuel asked the father if there was anyone else. Jesse told him that there was the youngest son grazing sheep in the field. So Samuel ordered the youngest be brought to him. Even though Jesse disapproved of the Prophet’s request because he never thought his youngest son would be chosen by God, he went quickly and cried with a loud voice in the green valleys and high mountains. The boy heard his father’s strong voice, and he came quickly. Jesse brought his son to stand in front of Samuel. And he was red haired, with the sweetness of the eyes and good looking.
The Lord said, “Arise, anoint him, because this is the one”.
God is aware of everything in the heart and its intentions. That is why David was chosen to be king. Before the LORD everyone is exposed. Let us learn how to live in front of him with transparency and clarity in order to be able to build a solid relationship with him. God wants obedience and a pure heart before him.
“Blessed are the pure in heart because they will see God” Matthew 5: 6.
Let us always remember that there is a great contrast between God’s ways and our ways and between his thoughts and our thoughts. So we should learn this lesson and obey his advice in every detail of our lives
