All of a piece

The Lord is good to all,

He his compassion is over all that he has made. Psalm 145:9

Read Acts 9:31—42

Here I am tonight, looking over Peter’s shoulder, and I see those eyes open! Tabitha! By the power of God! She who was washed and laid out dead is now looking at me with the twinkle of life in her eye! Yes, this would lead people to believe. It would. And it’s not something that has happened to Tabitha alone. Like me, she is part of all that she has met. She touched lives with charitable generosity. She was woven into the lives of the disciples and the widows of the church as though they were the one piece of cloth. So life for Tabitha is rejoicing for all. Even when I pray for another I am blessed myself.

Father, when Peter prayed for one woman many rejoiced, many were blessed, a whole communion of saints experienced healing. I bow before you as Peter did. I bring before you in prayer those who need your life-giving touch as Peter did. And as I hold them before you, each one, I also pray for those whose lives are woven into theirs. Some also look to you in prayer. Some do not. I pray that as you pour your blessing on the one, the most frail and needy for whom I pray, so those around will also know and see the wonder of the Lord.
